The Bed Bug Pros is proud to announce that Sonny and Arrow have successfully renewed their National Entomology Scent Detection Canine Association (NESDCA) certification for 2026–2027.
The annual certification took place September 16, 2026, in Romulus, Michigan, where bed bug detection dog and handler teams are evaluated through a rigorous pass/fail testing process.
Arrow completed his positive alerts in an impressive eight minutes, accurately locating hidden live bed bugs in a neutral testing environment. In one challenging scenario, the bugs were concealed inside a dresser, but Arrow remained focused and correctly alerted Sonny to their location.
The certification is awarded to the dog-and-handler team, requiring both members to demonstrate their ability to work together effectively. NESDCA specializes exclusively in scent detection for the pest control industry, and teams must be recertified annually. Sonny and Arrow first earned their NESDCA certification in 2024, making this their third successful certification since Arrow joined The Bed Bug Pros.
Sonny and Arrow remain the only NESDCA-certified bed bug detection dog team in Northeast Ohio.
More Than Bed Bug Detection
Arrow’s role extends beyond locating bed bugs during inspections. He is trained to detect living bed bugs, while ignoring distractions such as dead bugs and other evidence of an infestation. His precise alerts can help identify individual locations where live bugs are present—something that can be difficult to determine through visual inspection alone.
Arrow performs inspections in both residential and commercial properties and is also used to verify the effectiveness of treatment. Following an extermination service, his detection abilities can help confirm that a property is free of live bed bugs.
The Bed Bug Pros provides comprehensive bed bug extermination services throughout Northeast Ohio, utilizing treatment strategies tailored to each situation. Depending on the property and infestation, services may include chemical treatments, organic and biologic methods, heat and steam treatments, and professional bed bug dog inspections.
The company also offers specialized bed bug junk removal for properties where excessive furniture, clutter, or belongings need to be removed before treatment. In addition, The Bed Bug Pros provides educational seminars for businesses, schools, nonprofits, property managers, and other organizations to help staff recognize bed bugs, establish response protocols, and reduce the risk of spreading an infestation.
Established in 2016, The Bed Bug Pros celebrated 10 years in business in January 2026 and serves communities throughout Northeast Ohio, including Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula, Trumbull and Cuyahoga counties.
